Sunday’s Occupy Portland rally and subsequent march was (at least for the portion that I was in attendance) a relatively calm affair. It was not met with anywhere near the level of police resistance that other recent direct actions have. It was actually pretty shocking that the march blocked just about every major street in downtown PDX and I didn’t see a single cop until everyone started setting up outside of city hall. Maybe it was the fact that it was Sunday, but still I would have expected that after a while they would have at least tried to talk to the group to figure out where they were heading. Anyways, I’ve put up a slideshow of some of the photos that I got. I’ll likely have some more over the coming days as I scan in some of the film that I processed this morning.
Until then…
The sleepover at city hall was killer. Butterflyrevolt and I were both there!

I love my mom <3
She’s such a hippie/dreamer.Wish I were Occupying Portland with her!
Who’s your mom? I’ll say hello.

Look it’s me! Omchomsky! This was also N17. The police had cleared the road of protesters, already, but continued to warn us that if we did not leave the street, we would be arrested by authority of the Portland Police Bureau. This is me after about ten minutes of this insanity. My incredulous expression was joined by screams asserting that the police were the only ones in the street.
Government Orders You Tube To Censor Protest Videos
In a frightening example of how the state is tightening its grip around the free Internet, it has emerged that You Tube is complying with thousands of requests from governments to censor and remove videos that show protests and other examples of citizens simply asserting their rights, while also deleting search terms by government mandate.
The latest example is You Tube’s compliance with a request from the British government to censor footage of the British Constitution Group’s Lawful Rebellion protest, during which they attempted to civilly arrest Judge Michael Peake at Birkenhead county court.
This is what’s called Fascism.

My name is Kelly Schomburg, I’m the girl with the red hair in these pictures. I was protesting at the Occupy Wall Street march yesterday when I and several other women were sprayed with mace and subsequently arrested. Many have already seen the video, which has been spreading like wildfire over twitter, Facebook, tumblr, and other video feeds, along with hundreds of other photos and videos. This is my recount of what happened.

This guy was awesome, he even wore a mini-skirt. Rape prevention tip: use the buddy system! If you’re not able to stop yourself from sexually assaulting people, ask a friend to stay with you while you’re in public!

This sort of thing is happening increasingly in Britain…nothing suprises me anymore. But people really just want more government power. Depressing as hell.
I need to move.
Generally all the poorest parts of London…
Coincidence? I think not.
